Welcome to my website!
I have been a member of the Labour Party and community activist for over seventeen years.
I set up and run the Fabian Society Women’s Network, which works to increase the involvement of women in politics and support the work of Fabian women in Parliament.
Last year the Fabian Women’s Network played an active role in pushing for better deal for women in retirement and hosted secretary of State John Hutton MP’s keynote speech on women and pensions.
I am also a member of the Fabian Society Executive, and served as National Chair of the Society. The Fabian Society is a centre-left think tank with over 6000 members which is researching and arguing for more a stronger focus on life chances and equality. At the end of 2006, the Rt Hon Ed Balls MP took over as chair of the Society.
By profession I am a management consultant - a senior manager and researcher working with government departments and local authorities on improving public services.
As a community activist I co-led a campaign for and founded a local farmers’ market and community website BrentfordTW8.com. I was shortlisted for the Asian Women of Achievement Awards in 2007 for community contribution (Social and Humanitarian Award).
I believe we all have a responsibility to help make society better, and to give something back to the community. This website is part of my contribution to doing that, and I hope you enjoy reading about my campaigns and beliefs.
